Terminology management services
Terminology management is an essential component of the translation process, in that it guarantees the consistent use of technical terms in all translations delivered to a particular customer.
For this reason, in addition to our translation and localisation services, we also create and develop databases containing glossaries of the specific terminology for a certain sector or customer. These glossaries are continuously updated and made available to translators with each new assignment.
On request we also create terminology databases, either in collaboration with customers or starting from their own existing databases.
Localisation
Nowadays translations cannot and must not merely consist of taking a text and re-writing the content in another language. Especially when translating websites, company presentations, software and advertising material, care must be taken to adapt the content to fit with the language and culture of the target country or market. This is essential if the product is to be useful and have the desired impact. Localization ranges from simply converting units of measurement, to searching for the most effective idioms or slogans for a given situation.
Phrases translated too literally might not accurately transfer the true meaning of a message and could even affect the success of an advertising campaign or marketing initiative.
